Pricing

$1 a week. No surprise charges.

Going over your limit never costs money. Fines are pushups, steps and minutes, not charges. The only thing that ever hits your card is a single dollar a week. Here's exactly how that shakes out.

A worked week

MON · 47 MIN OVER 3 LOCKS

Three overages = 75 pushups owed. You clear it after dinner. Money charged: $0.00.

TUE TO FRI · UNDER LIMIT CLEAN

No locks, no fines, no roasts. The app does nothing, exactly what you're paying for. Money charged: $0.00.

SUN · WEEK CLOSES $1 BILLED

Apple charges the subscription, exactly $1. Not a cent more, no matter how many times you slipped.

Total for the week: $1 + 75 PUSHUPS. Your wallet stays shut. Your body does the work.

Pricing questions.

What does ScreenFine actually cost me each week?

A flat $1 per week subscription via Apple In-App Purchase. There are no variable charges. The "fines" are non-financial. When you exceed your daily limit, target apps lock until you complete a verified action (25 pushups, 1,000 steps, 25 squats, or 10 mindful minutes). The mechanism costs you exercise time, not dollars.

Is there a free tier?

No permanent free tier. Every new account gets a 7-day free trial of full access; cancel before day 7 and pay nothing. The mechanism only works when you have skin in the game (an active subscription you would notice cancelling), so a permanent free tier would defeat the design.

How does the lock mechanism work?

Set a daily screen-time limit. The moment you exceed it, target apps in your block list become inaccessible. To unlock, complete the redemption action you chose during onboarding. Camera-verified pushups, HealthKit steps, squats, or mindful minutes. Phone, Messages, FaceTime, and Maps remain accessible regardless of lock state.

How do I clear a lock?

Open the ScreenFine app. The redemption screen surfaces immediately when a lock is active. Pick your action (default: 25 camera-counted pushups). Verify (the iPhone TrueDepth camera counts reps; HealthKit verifies steps; mindful minutes are timer-only). Apps unlock the moment verification completes.

Can I pause the lock mechanism?

Yes, from Settings. Locks stop firing immediately. The $1 weekly subscription continues until you cancel it. No penalty for pausing; pause is the autonomy escape hatch.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel through iPhone Settings -> [your name] -> Subscriptions, or from inside the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current weekly billing period. No penalty.

Why $1 per week instead of $X per year?

Because the price needs to be visible. Annual subscriptions feel like sunk cost. $80 paid in January is invisible by April. Weekly billing keeps the cost present-tense; you see the deduction every week and have to actively decide to keep using the product.

Is there a Pro tier or a more expensive plan?

No. There is one plan at $1 per week. Per-app time limits and partner mode (your accountability partner sees your lock log) are included, not paywalled behind an upgrade. The only thing you ever pay is the $1 weekly subscription.

How is this billed. Apple IAP or web?

Subscription is billed by Apple via In-App Purchase, the same way you pay for any iOS subscription app. There are no other charges. Apple handles refunds, payment retries, and tax collection.
